Fair Day

A couple weeks ago we ventured out to the Washington County Fair for a little fair day fun. The weather held up nicely, although it was a little cool in the AM for this time of year! We had lots of yummy treats, including some Argentinean empanadas from a local vendor who will hopefully be opening a restaurant soon. The girls had a super fun day riding rides. They were able to ride so many rides together...it was so cute to see them having so much fun together. I think the Ferris wheel was one of their favorites. The girls played a midway game too...they each won a stuffed animal ( Shark for Madeline an Fish for Ella ! )

There were plenty of animals around of course. We cheered on the little piggies during the pig races. We watched a few horses tromp through the mud at the horse show, and the girls rode ponies and a camel. I think both girls ( and Mom and Dad ) were a little in awe of the big camel carrying around so many pint sized passengers! Kate took the the day in stride. She was a great baby, as usual, and loved watching all the fun and excitement of it all!

We ended the day on the Super Shot ride. Madeline had seen it from the Ferris wheel and she thought it looked like fun. We didn’t think she would be tall enough, but she was! Yikes! So Daddy and Madeline climbed aboard. Madeline was nervous and excited and very brave. I don’t think she fully grasped what the ride would feel like though. After we got strapped in we slowly, slowly, slowly went way up high in the air....then we plummeted down super super fast! Madeline was shellshocked after this. She didn’t know quite what to think. She said she would not ride it again but....She now admits that the ride was fun AND scary. Go Madeline! We’ll see what she thinks next time she sees one of these rides again. :)

Zoo Time

Mommy took the girls to the Como zoo for a little animal watching and a little amusement riding. The girls really like the Como...it is just big enough for them and has great attractions for girls their age. They really liked the butterfly garden. Madeline even tried to identify what type of butterfly landed on Mommy’s foot. The rides were a big hit as usual, and this year Ella was tall enough ( and brave enough ) to ride on her own or with big sister Madeline! Yay Ella! Another fun successful day at the Zoo!

Nana and Us

Nana came up last weekend take the girls out for a few hours of fun and dinner. This was a big help to Daddy since Mommy had left that morning to go dance the night away with a friend at a Coldplay concert in Alpine Valley, WI. Nana took the girls to Color Me Mine where the girls were able to paint a special ceramic treasure. The girls loved this experience! A week later we got to pick them up all glazed and fired. So cool. Afterwards the girls headed over to Pino’s Pizza for some of the best pizza in the area. The girls then got ice cream and fun time at the park. Thank you Nana!!

Baby Bather

When we picked this sink out the design center consultant called it the baby bather. Two years later we tried out bathing a baby in the baby bather sink and it works great! Kate loved it. Mommy loved it. Now if everything else was as fun to wash and clean in the sink!

Bubble Time

Mommy recently discovered a fun project in Family Fun magazine that the girls really loved! The bubble blowers were made from plastic bottles and washcloths with rubber bands. We were all amazed at the bubbles that the girls could make with these fun contraptions.

Salamander fun

Madeline and Daddy got to play with a few salamanders recently at a parks and rec program. Madeline sat so patiently listening to the salamander story and learning about salamanders. When it was finally her turn to hold the salamander she had no problems reaching out her hands to accept the slimy creature. Madeline also got to feed the little guy a worm for dinner. Yum for him.

Kamp Dels Adventure

A few weeks back we loaded up the minivan ( and I mean LOADED ) for our 4 night excursion inWaterville MN at Kamp Dels. Maegen had frequented this lovely camp with a K back when she was a little girl. She had very fond memories of the pool, the campgrounds, and the barn store where you could get treats, gifts, and other various goods.

Our cabin was nice and cozy. We had some crazy bed times cramped into the small space, but it was worth it for all the fun the girls had.

Swimming was a big hit. It was very hot the week we went and we spent so much time in the pool. Madeline could touch the bottom with her head out of the water even. She was very happy about that.

The girls adored all the animals in the petting zoo. The Pony rides were another big hit with Madeline and Ella. They were so amazed and in awe, I think, being on top of the pony. So fun! They also got to fish off the dock...and off a fishing boat with Daddy...Although it was quite hot so this turned more into a fun ride around the lake instead of a fishing excursion.

We capped off at least two of our nights with a small campfire and some yummy smores. It’s great to make these memories and share our love of camping ( or former love ) with the kids. I’m sure we’ll go back again some day...maybe even in a tent. We had a great time, but it sure was nice to get back home.

Madeline goes to Texas

Last month, Madeline and Daddy went to visit Papa in Texas. This was Madeline’s first flight since she was a baby and she was very excited. She started packing for the trip 2 weeks before we left. Fortunately our flight was on time ( early even! ) We had a great visit with Papa. The pool was a big hit and so were the tacos at the Mexican restaurant we ate at. Yum! Madeline is already planning the next trip to Texas!
